When you have the opportunity to learn for one of the best wedding photographers in the world, you don’t sit back and let the opportunity slip by, you grab hold. I learned about Jerry’s work about three years ago. His use of lighting, posing and fashion style brings all of his images to a level of photography mastery all of us professionals should strive for. When I heard him speak two years ago at WPPI in Las Vegas, I found out about his workshops. I took the workshop ad and pinned it to my bulletin board, made a goal to save a portion of all my sessions to go towards this amazing opportunity. So this June I made the trek both physically and emotionally to experience Jerry’s workshop, hosted in one of my favorite cities, Vancouver BC.
The workshop started with critiquing a set of each person’s images: the light, the pose, the composition and talking through how to improve the image to allow for the most impact. From there we covered all types of lighting scenerios, worked with posing models, creating shapes, changing simple hand placements and head placements to create a whole new feeling. Then we photographed again, critiqued again, shot again, critiqued again and then moved into the art of running a business. Covering such topics as selling and creating albums, working for and towards your perfect day. How to talk to your customers both in person and on the phone and of course how to get the work in.
It was a wonderful group of people that I got to share my time with. Everyone in the group added to the experience and will continue to be a part of my learning and growth as we continue to share our experiences with one another. Thank you to both Jerry and Melissa for a wonderful experience, for bringing all of us together, to pushing us to raise the bar of our craft, our business and reminding us what’s most important.

I think you summed it up pretty well. I look forward to seeing everybody move their work to the next level and being able to say I was there when it all began is something I will always treasure.
Cheers Gary
Sounds like it was a worthwhile and rewarding experience for you. I’m excited to see what the experience will bring to your business and artistry!
Thanks Ajira. It was a fun week in Vancouver and I love that everyone from the week is still helping one another to strive to push our craft.
Hi Gary! Such a pleasure getting to know you during the week and can’t wait to see your growth as well. Thanks for dropping in and saying hello.
